Free software loses contracts

Filed under: Uncategorized — lenand @ 3:35 pm

I have just been to the Far East. This country gave a costly database supplier the work because it was expensive. The developed application only needed the open source database MySQL (an Oracle Product).

The developer alleged that if something is free it is difficult to share the licence money among “interested parties”. Don’t bother looking for documentary evidence. I hope the EU behaves better than this, as discussed by Mark Ballard in “How to win an Oracle Contract“.
